"I tramped for days across the Alps, right off the beaten track, with only my compass to make certain I was headed south.
I passed through some ravishingly beautiful scenery. Magnificent mountain ranges, incredibly lush meadows and thick dark forests, long steep climbs, awe-inspiring descents.
The tortuous paths that I took did not pass through towns or villages and I scarcely saw a living soul. But curiously, I did not feel alone.
Now I know why wise and holy men seek such places for their meditation, for there nature makes her presence felt and shows us how very unimportant in the great scheme of things mankind really is."
